Forney Means Business

 Dear Business Prospect,

Thank for your inquiry into the financial resources available for businesses through the City of Forney Economic Development Corporation.  We welcome your inquiry and encourage you to utilize the many complimentary resources we have available, including demographics, maps, property search and other pertinent area information.

Forney offers a vibrant community, and is actively seeking and recruiting quality development.  In order to support these ideals, Forney has created some base-line incentive criteria to assist you as a business owner in making that critical location decision.  Please review the process for applying and receiving incentives below, and see the margin to the right for some of our targeted incentive plans.

Incentive Application Process & Timeline:

  1. Business completes and delivers Incentive Application to Executive Director of Economic Development
  2. Staff reviews application for completeness.  If additional documentation is required, the owner/developer will be contacted and the required information gathered.
  3. Once a complete application is received, an economic development impact analysis (EIA) is performed and an economic development incentive agreement is negotiated.  The Economic Development Incentive Agreement is between the owner/developer and the City and EDC and outlines the obligations of the Company and the City.
  4. Staff forwards summaries of the EIA and application, incentive agreement and a recommendation for approval of disapproval for review and action by the Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors.
  5. The EDC Board of Directors approves or disapproves at the regular Board of Directors meeting, the third Thursday of each month, at the FEDC building at 6:30 pm
  6. If approved, the Agreement moves forward for City Council’s approval.  If disapproved by the Board, the application stops. See the attachment below for our Application for Economic Development Financial Incentives. We encourage you to submit the application in its entirety.  There is no fee for this process.

Each project is considered on a case-by-case basis.  The economic impact of your business will be considered as to the long term direct benefit/catalyst benefit to the City of Forney.  This office will be your point of contact throughout the incentive process.  Once a project moves to the development phase, the FEDC will introduce and transition you to the Community Development department.

For more information, please see our contact the FEDC office at 972-564-5808 or through this website.
