Data Centers & Technology

Forney’s location in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex provides access to a labor pool of over 1.3 million people within 35 minutes of our community.  This skilled base includes emerging growth in the technology sector.  Further, our area’s technology workforce index of 6.2 ensures your company will find well-trained, experienced employees.  Recent studies have shown the Dallas-Fort Worth area consistently ranked as one of the best locations in the country for data centers.  Forney’s location 23 miles from the headquarters of semiconductor giant Texas Instruments, 24 miles from the Downtown Dallas Infomart interconnect hub and 27 miles from the telecom corridor north of Dallas, make it a prime destination for data storage, transmission and high tech manufacturing operations.

The Forney EDC recently completed a fiber optics study of the Gateway development.  The study reported there is tremendous access to fiber optics infrastructure from several providers, capable of handling both small and large data center operations.  Forney's fiber optics provides access within microseconds to the Dallas Infomart, one of the largest interconnect hubs in the United States.  Forney also provides access to a robust network of additional infrastructure to serve these operations.  This includes dual feed electric service by Oncor, a large availability of water, natural gas and related services.  More information on utilities is available here.
