“Inspiring Students Through Innovative Education” is more than a motto of the Forney Independent School District…it’s the definition of the difference between other public school districts and Forney ISD.
Recognized as a TEA Exemplary School District, Forney ISD is known for its innovative, educational programs and achievements inside and outside the classroom. The school board has moved aggressively to keep up with student growth opening new schools almost annually from 2000 to 2010. In the fall of 2008 the district opened two new elementary schools and a new middle school before opening up the district’s second high school, North Forney High School in the fall of 2009. At the start of the 2011 school year, Forney ISD has a total of nine elementary schools, two middle schools and two high schools and one academic center bringing the total number of schools in the district to 14.

· Forney ISD commits to provide quality student support through special education services for those students with identified needs now. Whether it is using mobile labs, wireless Internet access, electronic textbooks, streaming video or video conferencing, the district strives to provide the tools our students and faculty need to combine technology into everyday classroom life.
· Every FISD employee is required to attend 12 hours of annual professional development and the FISD participates in the Schlechty Standard Bearer network for continual professional development.
· Laptops are provided for all students beginning in the 5th grade through 12th grade.

Eastfield Community College and Trinity Valley Community College are an easy 15 minute commute and offer technical as well as academic programs. Several area universities provide a variety of degree programs. A branch of the University of North Texas recently opened in Lancaster, 20 minutes from Forney.
Forney has grown over 160% in the past decade… National retailers such as Wal-Mart, Lowe’s, Chili’s, CVS and Walgreens have established locations here with many others’ plans underway. Large employers include well-established firms such as Steve Silver Company, Corrugated Services Inc., Classic Architectural Products, NextEra Energy and Forney Independent School District. The Forney Business Park is positioned in the midst of it all with over 50 acres of EDCowned shovel-ready property positioned to attract flex-tech/office development.
